OPINION: The Brood War HD rumor and why I’m worried for SC2

opinionThere’s a not-so-confirmed rumor going around that Blizzard will be announcing a Brood War HD remaster during Blizzcon. This rumor has been starting up hype-trains left and right including mine. I never played BW and I would really want to check out the single player. With that said, it’s leaving me a little bit worried particularly towards the future of Starcraft II.

Happy birthday, Starcraft 2!

After about a week of sporadic editing, I finally finished my latest highlight video. I still prefer calling them frag videos, but nothing really gets fragged in SC2. I have to say though, I am really satisfied with the result.

The timing of the video is a pretty cool coincidence. Dreamhack Valencia just ended and released their replays. At the same time, I was really itching to do something creatively. So I thought, why not make another highlight video? I actually only realized that SC2 will be celebrating its 6th Anniversary when the minerals turned into cakes.

With the beta starting to wrap up, I feel like it’s appropriate to say a few words in parting about the Legacy of the Void beta test. I’m not going to pretend that my thoughts matter. I’m just Diamond league. I played just a few above 500 games in the beta. Not good, not bad, just average. This is an epilogue on the beta from an average player’s point of view. Word of warning, this is going to be a long wall of text! What a long, strange trip it has been!

Cheese in Starcraft 2 doesn’t refer to the dairy product. It refers to cheesy builds designed to be easy to execute yet hard to defend against. They are builds that are used to net easy wins. Cheese builds are gambles and if they get defended, you are generally in serious trouble. An example of cheese is the infamous Protoss Cannon Rush.
