The last part in the Starcraft 2 saga is now available for pre-purchase. This expansion pack will contain the conclusion of the story set in motion during the first Starcraft games, focusing on the high-tech Protoss race through the eyes of its champions Zeratul and Artanis. The final game will also include updated multiplayer features such as Archon Mode, a multiplayer mode where 2 players control a single army, effectively halving the required task of playing Starcraft 2 (will be great for beginners!), automated tournaments, and Allied Commanders, a yet-to-be-detailed co-op experience.
The pre-purchase itself will grant you early access to a single-player mission pack called Whispers of Oblivion which bridges the end of Heart of the Swarm to the beginning of Legacy of the void. If you don’t want to pre-order, the mission pack itself will be released free for everyone prior to Legacy of the Void.
The real caveat of pre-purchasing though, is immediate access to the LotV beta. That’s right. If you’re a Starcraft 2 fan who is still unfortunate enough to not have access to the beta, now is your chance!
Also, Heart of the Swarm has also gone standalone. If you want to check out the current Starcraft 2 ladder, you no longer need to buy both Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm! This is pretty amazing for lowering the barrier of entry of the game!
